Chanel Sublimage Skincare Review

I reckon now is a good time for a Chanel Sublimage Skincare review, having been using these products for half a year at this point. These are the Sublimage L’extrait de Nuit (night extract serum), Sublimage L’extrait de Creme (extract cream), Sublimage Le Baume (the balm),  Sublimage La Creme Yeux (eye cream), Sublimage L’Huile-en-gel de Demaquillage (makeup removal gel-to-oil). If you’d like to see the textures of these products up close, here’s a video review that you can watch.

Chanel Sublimage Skincare Collection Review

Chanel Sublimage Skincare Collection Review

The Chanel Sublimage collection is powered by the Vanilla Planifolia concentrate and is their ultimate anti-aging skincare line. The creation of the Sublimage line is through a fermentation process known as PolyFractioning, which is inspired by how the French make their champagne. It involves extracting special molecules obtained only within a very short and precise window of harvesting the pods as they mature, and not when they have already turned mature. This may have been inspired by how grapes for champagne-making are harvested just as they are ripening and not when they are ripe. Chanel’s highly-regulated and delicate practice is achieved by only using their privately grown Vanilla planifolia plant hand-harvested in Madagascar. The Sublimage range of skincare is formulated for all skin types however there were some I found not to be suitable for oily skin type. I personally found them to benefit normal and dry skin types more; and that I’ll share later as you read on.

Chanel Sublimage L’extrait de Nuit (night extract serum) Review

The Chanel Sublimage L’Extrait de Nuit is a night extract serum, essentially a regenerative and restorative night concentrate to be used before your night cream or moisturiser. It is formulated to be a night time treatment using the stem cells of the vanilla planifolia plant and natural chronopeptide. Peptides, as we know, are skin building blocks formed by amino acids, so chronopeptides are the same except that their activities mimic the skin clock for day and night adaptations so that repair and rejuvenation can be optimised, in this case, at night time. You only need 2 pumps of the product each time. It is of a honey gold-coloured water-to-oil texture, comes out in a beautiful glisten if you look closely. I’d would say this is the most comfortable serum I’ve ever felt on my skin – absorbs effortlessly, takes little time to smooth it across the face and neck, I’d even say that I could feel it gently unfurl my skin from underneath. I have dehydrated skin, which means I’m oily on the surface but dry in the underlying layers mainly due to the lack of water. This night extract serum literally unshackle those tension from my skin’s deeper layers and the comfort level it gives is outstanding. Even though it is a water-to-oil formula, it does not come across as greasy. After application, the skin becomes instantly softened and the finish is a little silky to the touch.

Chanel Sublimage L’extrait de Creme (extract cream) Review

The Sublimage L’extrait de Creme is a night extract cream designed to pair with the l’extrait night serum, but this is the final step of the routine. It’s main functions are also to regenerate and restore our skin cells. The formula uses vanilla water extracted from the fruit used as a protective shield for the skin so this cream works as a perfect barrier at night to seal in all those nourishment from the products we applied before this. The texture is silky, smooth and velvety. The cream appears rich but actually feels light. The result the next morning is glowy and radiant skin.

Chanel Sublimage Le Baume (the balm) Review

The Chanel Sublimage Le Baume is essentially a soft balm that targets at regenerating, soothing and protecting the skin. It has a buttery texture, spreads across easily, and leaves a satiny sheen after you’ve applied. I want to add that, because Le Baume is a denser formula than cream, and is formulated for both day and night use, if you have normal or dry skin, or even sensitive skin, Le Baume may work great for you because it softens, nourishes and even smoothens fine lines after a period of use. It is especially great for dry skin. But if you have oily skin, or dehydrated skin like mine, which gets oily on the outside but dry on the inside, you may want to just stick to using it only at night. And I’d recommend for oily skin users to gently exfoliate your skin first before applying Le Baume, so that the layer of nourishing film it leaves behind can adhere better and deliver more efficiently, as exfoliating reduces our overnight sebum production which prevents it from interfering the final coat of skincare doing its work.

Chanel Sublimage La Creme Yeux (eye cream) Review

The Chanel Sublimage La Creme Yeux has to be the most moisturising eye cream I’ve used. The texture is quite rich, maybe because a lot of elements have gone into compounding this product. Other than the active ingredient of vanilla planifolia, it is also enriched with two active complexes for the eyes. The Eye Opening Complex aims at lifting the skin structure around the eyes, and The Eye Draining Complex focuses on reducing dark circles and puffiness by enhancing microcirculation around the eye contour areas. The anti-puffiness bit has proven not to have done much in my case, but my dark circles have improved. The skin around the eyes also appear to have plumped up due to the intense hydration boost, and the skin tone seems to have brightened. So the Chanel Sublimage eye cream does have a brightening effect and makes the eye areas appear less dull.

Chanel Sublimage L’Huile-en-gel de Demaquillage (makeup removal gel-to-oil) Review

The Chanel Sublimage L’Huile-en-gel de Demaquillage is a makeup removal gel-to-oil cleanser from the Sublimage range. It is a clear gel on its own but transforms into oil once massaged. And when in contact with water, it turns into liquid milk. This can get quite oily even when I tried adding water in the process of removing my makeup, and even after rinsing with water it still leaves an oily film on the skin. So what I do after rinsing is to double-cleanse with a water-based cleanser this time, using another cleanser to get rid of the oily feeling afterwards. Again, if you have dry skin, lathering with water with this gel-to-oil remover and then rinsing it off could work for you, because I can imagine that sleek, silky feeling is like a warm blanket over your skin. And one thing I can’t complain is that this cleanser really removes every bit of makeup quite thoroughly. But the after-feel isn’t for every skin type, I can say that you will not feel comfortable if you have oily or dehydrated skin. The discomfort may not come immediately after the cleansing for some of you, but in my case I felt the oily discomfort immediately even after rinsing. So I think oily skin types will come to realise that excessive sebum production may get worse overnight sooner or later, if you skip the step of double-cleansing with this product.

If you have oily skin, you may wish to know that the Chanel Le Lift skincare range has excellent oil-control properties – you may read my Chanel Le Lift Review here or watch my video review below for close-up shots of the product textures.

Chanel Sublimage Overall Review

My experience with the Chanel Sublimage products has been a fairly fulfilling journey. The reason why I have decided to review them after 6 months is because, as with most skincare products, the result has started to plateau at this point. The anti-aging claim is true to a certain extent as the skin texture and fine lines have visibly improved as seen in the video thumbnail and in the video itself above. My skin has become less susceptible to bumps as well, has plumped up to a degree and become more radiant as a whole.
