Chanel Le Lift Review | SingaporeBeautyProducts

Chanel Le Lift review is finally here after 2-3 months of regular use. The Chanel Le Lift collection comprises a complete range of products from hand cream to lip care, but today’s review will be covering the five that I’ve tried and tested. They are the Le Lift Lotion, Eye Cream, Serum, Night Cream, and Lip and Contour Care lip treatment.

Chanel Le Lift Skincare Review

The Chanel Le Lift skincare line focuses on firming and plumping, if you will, lifting of aging skin. As a skincare reviewer and an aging 40-something whose cheeks, lids and all things that surrender to gravity, it was hard for me to ignore this range.

From left (clock-wise): CHANEL Le Lift Lotion, Le Lift Serum, Le Lift Concentre Yeux, Le Lift Lip & Contour Care, Le Lift Creme de Nuit

The Le Lift collection of products contains an active key ingredient, the botanical alfalfa, which Chanel claims to be as effective as retinol. We know how powerful retinol is when it comes to skin cell renewal and collagen production largely due to its exfoliating capability. The ability to resurface the skin makes it an effective skin texture smoothener; otherwise also known as, the wrinkles killer. As a result, retinol also helps in spot fading as well as acne treatment. Almost the wonder worker, if not for the risk of irritation and increasing sensitivity to the skin. So botanical alfalfa appears to be able to do the same job, less the side effects. Coming from the same Vitamin A family as retinol, this protein, vitamin and mineral-packed plant is able to do the opposite of causing irritability and allergies. It is anti-inflammatory and relieve skin triggers like redness and rashes, while doing the good things retinol does.

If you prefer watching my Chanel Le Lift review video, you may catch it below. It’s almost the same stuff, except that there will be visuals of swatches, massage techniques, and more before-and-after results.

Chanel Le Lift Lotion Review

The Le Lift Lotion comes in this clear container so you know how much you’ve used and left with. I have to say the opening is a little small especially when the product is so gooey, you’d need to shake out at least a few times (as you do a ketchup bottle) for the desired amount. 3-5 drops does the job for the whole face as the texture may be thick, but easily distributed on the skin. The after-feel can be sticky, but it is worth the hydration boost it gives, as well as the firming and plumping effect almost immediately. The tackiness is only temporary since this is the first step in the Le Lift skin regiment, the serum and cream you apply over it will mask out the clinginess.

Chanel Le Lift Serum Review

The Chanel Le Lift Serum has the most interesting texture of all. The way it works on the skin is super intense, and I’m not saying this because it is a serum, but because the absorption rate is very quick. So quick there’s little time for you to even take time to massage the product in. It has the feel of a gel but not as slick, so you get some resistance from spreading it further. What I like to do is to either use the warmth from my fingers to warm it up first, or dab a little of it on to the different regions of my face. This way you’ll be able to distribute the product better. Similarly, you can feel the firming effect almost immediately; the only difference from the lotion is that the Le Lift serum is non-sticky and a matte formula at that.

Chanel Le Lift Eye Concentrate (Concentre Yeux) Review

The Chanel Le Lift Eye Concentrate is a lighter, but more concentrated eye treatment formula (hard to fathom I know). The texture is airy and watery, unlike cream. There’s also the Le Lift Eye Cream but because the formula is richer, my beauty advisor told me to get the eye concentrate instead just in case creams may aggravate my milia seeds. If you watch my demo review video above (around the 2:22 mark) of the Le Lift Eye Concentrate, you can see that it actually de-puffs my (terrible) eye bags to some extent (most evident at 3:49). Unfortunately, this effect does not last as long as I hope it would. The under eye puffiness and fine lines tend to resurface the next morning. So I size this Chanel Le Lift eye concentrate up to be a temporary fix for puffiness and a short term reliever for under eye dryness. An eye cream to seal over might have lengthen that effect.

Chanel Le Lift Creme de Nuit (Night Cream) Review

The Chanel Le Lift Creme de Nuit night cream is rich, silky and smooth in texture. I am certain this Le Lift night cream is the only on in the range that does not leave your skin matte after use. The skin feels soft and silky after application, leaving it soothed and rested; which is different from its lotion and serum that have a firming and tightening effect (in a good way). So this night cream as a last step in the Le Lift ritual helps to seal in the earlier skincare perfectly with this comforting veil. The nice surprise you get from the Chanel Le Lift Creme de Nuit is that despite its satiny and velvety feeling on the skin the night before, you wake up with a shine-free complexion the next morning.

Chanel Le Lift Lip and Contour Care Lip Treatment Review

The Chanel Le Lift Lip & Contour Care lip treatment cream can be quite a saviour if your lips are prone to cracks at the corners or tears at certain point whenever you stretch your lips such as yawning. Especially like in my case, I sleep in an air-conditioned room every night and it dries my lips. I haven’t had those problems since I’ve used this Chanel Le Lift Lip treatment cream. It is not a lip balm; so you don’t have to worry about your lips getting sticky against your bed sheets and pillows. This lip treatment is cream in texture, however it dries matte and envelopes the lips comfortably, leaving the lips super soft and non-drying (not necessarily moist). As this product leaves residue, do not apply too much like I did one time. You will wake up with a white crusty moustache, no kidding. Therefore, use it sparingly. The Chanel Le Lift Lip and Contour Care lip treatment promises to plump the lips and smooths out lip wrinkles, as well as the nasolabial lines (the two lines that extend from the sides of your nose towards your mouth and sometimes beyond it). As far as these claims go, I don’t see any improvement in lip plumpness or reduced fine lines on those areas. The main takeaway for me from this product is that my lips no longer tear or crack, even on days I skipped using it.

Chanel Le Lift Price & Verdict: As good as retinol?

Botanical alfalfa concentrate as the main active ingredient has been emphasized throughout the Chanel Le Lift campaign, and so are the words “smooths”, “plumps” and “firms”. Let’s talk about smoothening – there’s no refining of skin’s texture as far as I can tell. My skin remains with enlarged pores and tiny bumps, so that claim goes out the window for me. As for plumping and firming, I feel that the Le Lift line does that to my skin to some degree. My skin feels thicker and firmer, though not necessarily ‘lifted’. It feels like my skin’s protective barrier may have been fortified, so to speak. For that, I can’t rule out Chanel’s claim of collagen synthesis and increased epidermal renewal by the alfalfa concentrate, as well as Le Lift’s other active ingredients and patented complexes at work. So that part is working for me, but it is hard to say how this change can affect my skin for the better over time.

For now, the obvious improvement has to be the sebum-control aspect of things. I now wake up with less oily skin, and even after cleansing, my skin manages to keep shine at bay for the rest of the day. So it begs the question – is Chanel Le Lift’s botanical alfalfa concentrate as effective as retinol like what the brand claims it to be? On anti-wrinkling and skin refining, it’s a clear no for me. As for faster regeneration of skin cells, maybe. If I get waning breakouts less frequently, and with better skincare absorption going forward, then I can be certain that the Le Lift line has indeed transformed an underlying issue that has been troubling my skin for a long while, by which, is even better than retinol since the benefits from phytonutrients have no side effects and work for longer term.

The Chanel Le Lift Lotion, Serum, Concentre Yeux (Eye Concentrate), Creme de Nuit (night cream), Lip and Contour Care retail at SGD$123, SGD$304, SGD$148, SGD$239 and SGD$102 respectively at https://Chanel.com.sg and Chanel Singapore boutiques and beauty counters.
