Catrice Cosmetics Nude Blossom Eyeshadow Palette Review

The Catrice Cosmetics Nude Blossom eyeshadow palette is not only versatile to use for any nude eye makeup look but is also a very affordable drugstore makeup palette to have. Ever since I’d tried the Catrice Cosmetics Color Correcting Concealer Palette I’ve been wanting to try other Catrice Cosmetics makeup products, and this eyeshadow palette did not disappoint. Here’s my quick review:

Catrice Cosmetics Eyeshadow Palette: Nude Blossom Review

Along with the rest of the Catrice Eyeshadow palettes I saw at the Guardian Pharmacy outlet I was at (the Ultimate Chrome, Modern Matte, Fresh Nude Collections, etc) I picked the Nude Blossom Collection palette because I could see that the shades are versatile enough to take me from a daytime soft pink nude look to a night time soft glam kind of way.

Swatches/ Texture/ Shades

Not the best of what I’ve seen of drugstore makeup but I kind of like the fact that the pigment comes off not too loud considering how nude the palette is. If you want to see how the shades can be enriched, watch this palette in action in the video below to see how beautiful the nude shades are when applied with a primer beneath:

I like how the texture feels on application – for one, there’s minimal kickback, two, although the color payoff is subtle, the powders actually adhere to the skin/ eyelids pretty well. However I find it difficult to build the shades on top of each other, as they don’t blend too well unless you wear them over an eyeshadow base. You can tell by its darkest shade that the pigments don’t quite bind together, but yet the makeup last longer than I’d expected it to, i.e, more than 4 hours before you see the first sign of it wearing off.

How To Apply

I’ve got hooded eyelids, just in case you can’t already tell. So while many would usually apply darker shades at the outer corners, I try to avoid that as it’d weigh down my already heavy lids. Hooded eyes also mean I do not have a natural crease, which is to say, my eye lids appear bulgier than normal eye lids. So I tend to avoid putting shimmery shades on the lid area where it could be seen most. Instead, I used the darker shade for my inner corner right up to the centre of the lid to make my eye socket appear deeper, that way, the puffiness in my eye lids can be played down.

Next, following this I cut a slight crease using the same darker shade as a way to remind myself not to let the shimmery pink shade go beyond that line so it remains hidden under the lid fold. What’s the point of applying the shimmery shade there then you may ask? Well the way my eye lids shimmer as I blink can still add some form of dimension to the whole eye makeup look. And then the rest of the lighter shades such as the coral and rose shades, I blend them into a warm hue on the outer half of my eye. Use the pearly shade on the brow bones and you’re pretty much done. But if you’re looking for a smoldering eye look in which you want to smoke the eye lids all the way, I’ve got a video (below) on some tips & hacks on how hooded-eyed ladies like myself could include to pull off a smokey eye look without looking like you haven’t slept for 3 months.

Catrice Cosmetics: Best Value Drugstore Eyeshadow Palette

Price & Where to Buy

The Catrice Nude Blossom Eyeshadow palette retails at SGD$9.90 in Guardian’s Pharmacy Singapore outlets. That is 9 shades at S$1.10 a pan – the best value drugstore eyeshadow palette makeup in my opinion.
