Kanebo Suisai Beauty Clear Powder Review

Kanebo Suisai Beauty Clear Powder…now where do I even start with this review? It took me quite a while to even try this powder cleanser in the first place…long after it became available in Singapore. I’ve always avoided cleansing milks for a reason; I do not like the texture they leave on my skin after that – no doubt they give a clean feeling but it feels like they leave this powdery layer which makes my skin feels unbreathable and ‘starchy’. So when I learnt of the Kanebo Suisai Beauty clear cleansing powder that actually comes in dry powder form before emulsifying it into a milky liquid cleanser, I was afraid the same after-feel may happen. But thank myself for always being curious enough to try out skincare, especially those that’d been loved by the majority of users. Turns out that the Suisai Beauty Clear Powder has now become not just a part of my facial cleansing routine, but a travel staple I find hard to do without.

Kanebo would later come up with a sister product on this – the Lissage Deep Clean Powder, featured in the skincare cleansing routine video below. This one has double the foaming capability, not at all a bad thing because you’d need to understand how the protein structure works on the skin. This video demo shows how to use cleansing powders like these to effectively cleanse out oil and dirt, and at the same time introducing the much needed amino acids and peptides to especially mature skin.

Packaging

The Kanebo Suisai Beauty Clear cleansing powder comes in two packet sizes, i.e. 32 pieces and 15 pieces of hexagonal capsules each containing 0.4 grams of facial cleanser powder. These capsules are so tiny and weigh almost nothing. Being dry powder and sealed in these tiny capsules, there will be no spillage, unlike your liquid cleansers. I’ve bought good quality travel bottles to contain my toiletries for trips but I lost count of the number of times my shampoo and cleansers leaked out of them under air pressure changes. If anyone know of any powder shampoos (to be mixed with water) please let me know, and I don’t mean dry shampoo.

How To Use

It’s as simple as pouring the cleansing powder on to your palm, and then adding a few drops of water (warm preferably, so as to open up your pores for deeper exfoliation; but I use room temperature water and is just fine), and emulsify the mixture into a milky liquid by massaging the two together in your palm. Be sure to not over-massage such that it foams up before you put it on to your face, best if you can leave some powder grains yet to be integrated with water, so that you can get some exfoliating action going. Massaging over time foams it up, so up till that point, you want to keep all gaps between your fingers tight shut to prevent any product waste from dripping out. Then massage the milky mixture (with a few grains still in it) on to your skin in circular motion all over until it is finally foamy and creamy; continue doing that for a minute or two before rinsing.

One capsule is sufficient for each use.

Suisai Beauty Clear Powder Review

The Suisai Beauty Clear Powder is an essential step to take after removing your makeup if you’re a daily makeup wearer because it doubles up as a cleanser and mild exfoliator. This means the abrasion is gentle enough for you to use it daily, and in so doing, stepping up your double-cleansing game, as opposed to using a normal cleanser (milk, cream, gel, etc) which may under-cleanse, or an exfoliator which may be overly harsh to your skin.

Kanebo Suisai Beauty Clear Enzyme Cleansing Powder: How It Works

How this works is that the powder contains water-activated enzymes, that not only help to rid of excess sebum by removing keratin plug but also tighten pores in the process. So they essentially unclog pores, removes dead skin cells, and then shrink the pores afterwards. The formula also contains amino acids that boosts collagen and elastin production.

Kanebo Suisai Beauty Clear Cleansing Powder Review

The before (left) and after (right) photos below were taken over a trial period of just 3 days from when I’d used the Kanebo Suisai Beauty Clear powder cleanser for the first time around mid May 2018. My skin has always have issues with on and off age spots and breakouts. You can tell from the before photo that I have at least 2 to 3 pimples on my right cheek alone that are about to bud out. And just by using it for once daily over 3 days, these pimples have decided to retreat, lol. My age spots have also lightened quite a bit and the texture of the skin is somewhat smoother.

I’ve been using it at least for more than 4 times every week continuously for 1.5 months now. During the act of exfoliating, I do not feel any grains grinding against my skin. It is as creamy and foamy as it gets. Not once do I find it drying or giving me that same starchy feeling that milk cleansers do me. On the contrary, it makes my skin soft and smooth, and most importantly, enable other skincare products to be absorbed and work more effectively.
