The Body Shop Singapore: Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask Review

So here’s my The Body Shop Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask review for you after using it for about 3.5 months, i.e. Nov 2017 through mid February 2018, most part of when, for those staying in Singapore, experienced the coolest and also the wettest of weathers in history. I don’t have the habit of carrying a brolly with me when I head out, so on those showery days, unless I have a hood to flip over my head to shield the rain on those days I wear hoodies, I was mostly drenched.

What has the rain got to do with this The Body Shop mask you ask? Well I realized the exposure to the wet climate during that period gave rise to tiny bumps on my skin. There can only be 2 reasons why bumps appear; one, my skin gets too oily due to warmer weathers and as a result the pores get clogged, or it could be the high humidity in the air that is acting as a potential pollutant carrier that deposits them on to my skin. This is highly possible since I’m living in a densely built-up city, with throngs of traffic, endless construction and road works happening around me and anybody in this urban jungle Singapore. The wetter-than-usual atmospheric moisture being the culprit is quite obvious during that time.

According to The Body Shop, this Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask is an anti-aging mask, as well as a deeply-purifying one. As someone in my late 30s who seldom exercise and eats way too much junk , this seems to be a much needed treatment mask since it claims to fight premature aging through anti-pollution means.

Natural Face Mask Treatment for Acne & Pimples

The Body Shop Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask is also a natural face mask treatment for acne and pimples. Only I knew how much junk food I’d consumed during the holidays and I’d be lying if I say I didn’t know how much harm my weak resistance to food temptation could’ve caused my skin. But, YOLO.

So for the months of pre-, during and post-holidays, I have several pimples and even acne breaking out around the area between my brows (due to unhealthy diet) as well as the forehead (due to lack of sleep, cos, duh. Who sleeps early when they’re having fun?).

I started to use this mask as spot treatment to those areas on days when I’m too lazy to do the whole face routine. I didn’t think it could be as effective as the Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing (Clay) Masque which I’d used for the same purpose before, but it is. One time of spot treating for 10-15 minutes is all it takes, and raw zits are dried the next day. This was the time I realized I could try on those that are about to make their way up my skin’s surface; those pimples that are about to develop. I spot treated those as well and they were subdued the next day.

Texture & Sensation

When I first tried this natural face mask on my instagram stories (I usually do first impressions via this mode) it gives a tingling sensation for about under a minute upon application. As this mask has a wetter consistency, it doesn’t really dry up completely.

How To Apply

I would recommend you to use The Body Shop Facial Mask Brush to apply this mask because the texture of the mask was pretty mushy and wet. It could be a little messy if you were to apply it by hand. Leave it on your skin for about 10 minutes before rinsing off.

This facial mask also has apricot seed powder in it, so before you rinse off, it is advisable to wet your skin first and massage it so that the seed powder is able to gently exfoliate. This process helps if you suffer from tiny bump build-ups like me. It doesn’t necessarily smooth out your skin instantly, but this grinding process helps to improve the skin’s texture.

One of the Best Body Shop Products I’d tried!

This Japanese Matcha Tea Pollution Clearing Mask is by far one of the best Body Shop Products that I’d tried. It gives brighter-looking complexion, evens out skin’s texture, keeps new breakouts at bay – seriously, what more could one ask from one mask?

Verdict:

Best Face Mask for Pollution & Toxins Inside & Out

So I’ve experienced all the best things this mask could possibly bring. You’d think a face mask for pollution could only tend to skin problems caused by atmospheric adversities, like those coming from the environment around us. But apparently it doesn’t stop there, it heals skin issues that are intrinsically caused as well, i.e. physiological factors, like in my case, diet and the lack of rest/ sleep that eventually builds up the toxicity in my body that leads to breakouts.

If you’re also going through this pre- and post-hols toxic phase like me, even if its periodic, I’d suggest you give this mask a try.
