Chanel Le Blanc Powder Foundation & Corrector for Dark Spots

Chanel Le Blanc’s latest Brightening Compact powder foundation and stick corrector concealer are meant for concealing and correcting dark spots, skin tone, as well as bringing illuminance to the face. These Chanel new makeup are only the two out of the new trio released in the Le Blanc line. The third new Le Blanc item launched together in this same brightening & spot-correcting series is the Intensive Multi-spot Treatment. I’ll give this new skincare product a separate review after a good trial period.

The new Chanel Le Blanc Brightening Compact Foundation is also called Fond de Teint Compact Illuminateur in French, meaning “Illuminating Compact Foundation”. This foundation powder comes with spf 25/PA+++, and promises long-lasting radiance protection and thermal comfort.

Chanel Le Blanc Under Eye Color Corrector for Dark spots, Dark Circles

The new Chanel Le Blanc Brightening Concealing Stick on the other hand is the “Correcteur Illuminateur”, which translates to “Concealer Illuminator”. But then again, Correcteur can also mean “corrector”. In any case, I also picked up the matching concealer hoping that it could serve as an under eye colour corrector for not just dark spots, but for my under eye dark circles and redness too.

Do watch my Chanel Le Blanc Brightening compact foundation and concealer stick demo video below so you can see how the textures of both are being built on, lay over and blend with each other.

Coverage

Although Chanel states that the Le Blanc Brightening Concealing Stick gives high coverage, it still takes some work to build it up as you can see in the video. Depending on how pigmented the melanin of the hyperpigmentation on the face is, the Le Blanc brightening concealer gives me, at best, 80% spot coverage when used alone. In all fairness, some of my liver spots (age spots) are actually patches, of which can be quite intense. Concealing smaller light brown spots, sun spots and freckles on the face is not that hard with this one. This concealer stick comes with a high level SPF 40/PA+++ targeted UV protection.

Texture

The more difficult thing about this concealer is that the texture sets way too fast on the skin which makes it hard to blend. You can clearly see how much I was struggling with blending in the video above. On the plus side, matte concealers stay longer on oily/ combination skin types like mine; one of such is the Boy de Chanel Concealer.

Shade

I’ve been matched with shade B20 for the Chanel Le Blanc Brightening Compact foundation (as with my usual Chanel foundation and concealer shades), and B10 for the Chanel Le Blanc Brightening stick concealer as suggested by my beauty advisor. Because my dark spots were getting more apparent these days with age, she recommended me a shade lighter for the concealer so that there is more colour- correcting payoff for the targeted spots.

Formula/ Ingredients

The Chanel Le Blanc Brightening Concealer Stick contains gardenia-infused oil, niacinamide and squalene. Both gardenia oil and squalene have hydrating, calming and anti-inflammatory benefits for the skin. Niacinamide helps to inhibit pigment-producing melanocytes leading to dark patches, age spots, freckles, etc.

Coverage

The Chanel Le Blanc Brightening Compact Powder Foundation offers medium to full coverage. I feel that it comes with a thinner sponge applicator than the other Chanel Compact foundations I’d used; but it has dual sides for different purposes nonetheless. The velvety side (the side with the loop) is meant for lighter coverage and touch-ups, while the spongey side is for medium to full coverage application. The velvety side is particularly useful for padding the coverage up.

Texture/ Finish

The foundation texture feels dry and powdery at first. But after a while you’d feel that it sits comfortably on the skin; true to what Chanel claims – that it provides thermal comfort; clearly not in a physical warmth sense but in a blankety sense. The finish is a soft matte complexion.

Shade

Mine is in the shade B20, which offers a neutral undertone in medium shade. My skin has random redness, but my undertone is not exactly warm or cool. If you are cool-toned or warm-toned, then shades in “BR” and “BD” are for you respectively. Mine are just redness due to sensitivity that needs color-correcting, which this foundation is capable of.

Color corrector for dark circles under eyes dark spots: Chanel Le Blanc

The Chanel Le Blanc Brightening Concealer Stick offers decent coverage for the dark circles under my eyes and light brown and red spots. But it could not fully conceal my darker brown and black age spots. It also color-corrects the redness around the nose and eye bags to a certain extent. The before-and-after photos below were taken using only the Chanel Le Blanc concealer, so you can see how it counters my various skin imperfections.

For the under eyes, the Le Blanc stick concealer managed to neutralise the warm tone and lighten the dark circles. However it does not colour correct my acne well (right side above lip). So this concealer alone does not mask acute redness or brown and black pigmentation. It does however work great on reddish areas. These are screen grabs, so you may watch the number of times I had to actually build the concealer up in my demo video.

Chanel Le Blanc Powder Foundation for Dark Spots, Redness & Acne

I find dabbing the Chanel Le Blanc powder foundation product on to the skin helps with the coverage, especially for darker liver spots and patches, redness and acne on the face. Blending by swiping does not quite cut it. The foundation helps with concealing the acne which the stick concealer did not earlier provide good coverage for. Although dabbing with the product does not help fill up my pores, the foundation diffuses light off the skin, hence blurring them in a way when viewed further. Here is a close-up of my bare skin (no makeup) in the top photo, and with both the concealer and foundation in the below photo.

You have seen how the Le Blanc concealer worked like a colour corrector for my dark spots and dark circles under the eyes. The foundation does the same too and brightens the skin tone. The Le Blanc concealer also adheres well when I apply it on top of the Le Blanc compact powder foundation as a finishing touch. This is because they’re both matte in textures, and the concealer helps with building more coverage to the darker age spots and under eye areas.

Best Powder Foundation for Oily Skin & Redness: Le Blanc Chanel

The Chanel Le Blanc Brightening Compact Foundation may probably be the best powder foundation for oily skin. I’ve worn it for about 7 hours with much of my sebum under control. My natural oils only started to disintegrate the foundation makeup nearing that point.

This powder foundation also makes my skin glow by bringing more light to the skin, and this can be seen in more before-and-after photos in my video. The glow on the face shows as soon as the formula settles down on the skin. My skin tone also immediately evens out. Chanel’s Le Blanc makeup has a way of delivering skin radiance and luminosity in the softest, most delicate way.
