The Nufabrx Pillowcase made its presence in Singapore since July 2014 and has been a product coveted more from a beauty perspective rather than a domestic one – at least it is to us.
Founded in 2012 in Seattle, Washington, with a patent-pending technology innovated like none other, we are here to review what could be the next big thing reining in the health and beauty realm before something that can parallel this comes along.
What if We Tell You that the Nufabrx Pillowcases are your…
Acne, Insomnia, Sinus Infection Treatments knitted into one?
So, not only does it help you to save time and money from going through the endless routines of slathering on skincare products (you do realize that amount of time alone can be better spent on your beauty sleep), these pillowcases also help you to sleep better than what your normal cotton or silk pillowcases can do.
What seems like a staple product in every household now comes with a nightly mission of not just helping to keep acne and blemishes at bay, its essential oil-infused fabric also offers aromatherapy by inducing nerve-calming goodness for a better night’s rest and sleep, as well as relieves blocked nasal congestion as a form of sinusitis remedy because of the oils’ antiseptic and antimicrobial properties.
Chronic Blemished and Acne Prone Skin – a hormone condition, or Not?
So this team has conducted an interesting study through the comparison between the normal pillowcases we’ve been snuggling our faces up against with our toilet seat. Yes, you heard us right – the place you sit on a few times going about your organic business every day; not exactly the most sanitary spot in your home, that much is certain. As it turns out, the amount of bacteria found on our toilet seat is the same as those found on our pillowcase, no less and certainly, no joke.
It is daunting enough to think we’ve been snuggling up with our toilet seat for anything between 5 to 10 hours of sleep every night, much longer than the number of toilet visits for a few days add together. Now, it doesn’t take rocket science to know what the culprit is responsible for those blemishes, pimples and acne on your face that just never go away.
How to Prevent and Get Rid of Acne with Nufabrx Pillowcases
The bacteria on your cotton pillowcases come into contact with your skin every night clogging your pores and denying them of any chance to breathe, which is more than a bummer knowing that the night time is the best chance for our skin to renew and repair itself.
The Nufabrx pillowcase harnesses the power of three: Tea Tree Oil, Lavender and Lemon Balm. These essential oils come in the form of microcapsules (hence the term “encapsulation” is coined) that inlay into the fibers of the pillowcase. These nano capsules gradually releases the essential serum into our skin as our body heat comes into contact with the pillowcase and breaks the walls of these capsulated beads.
How it Works – the active ingredients
Tea Tree Oil – It is not only a natural remedy to treat and clear acne (great alternative to Benzoyl Peroxide) but also is antibacterial, antimicrobial and antifungal in fighting against acne development and outbreak. Tea tree oil is able penetrate into the blockage between the skin and sebaceous glands to disinfect our pores.
Lavender Oil – Like tea tree oil, Lavender is also a disinfectant that has antiseptic effects that speed up the healing of acne scars. It also has therapeutic effect in calming the skin and nerves to enable a better and deeper slumber.
Lavender also has circulatory effect on the blood flow in our skin, enabling better absorption of nutrients and oxygen to the skin cells, rejuvenating the skin structure.
Lemon Balm – it is a herb that helps to relieve anxiety and treat sleeping disorders as well as skin disorders like skin inflammation and herpes. It is a potent antioxidant that is able to penetrate into the skin and protects it against UV radiation and harmful sun damages. It is also a natural bug repellent to keep dust mites and mosquitoes away from stinging and leaving rashes and bites all over.
The Revolutionary Technology behind it all: Unveil new skin with a Bam and Boo away bad skin & sinuses!
Natural Home Remedies for Acne and Sinus: bamboo textile makes them impossible to thrive
The Nufabrx pillowcases uses 100% natural bamboo fabric that is antimicrobial, antibacterial and hypoallergenic all at the same time in cradling the tea tree, lavender and lemon balm oils in nano-capsules within its interwoven fibres, releasing them as your skin heat activates upon them.
The answer to How to Sleep Better
Bamboo contains an antimicrobial agent known as “bamboo-kun” which is antifungal and antistatic enough not to allow bacteria to thrive due to its excellent ability to quickly absorb moisture and evaporate off heat. As such, it is many times more breathable than cotton and less susceptible in trapping dirt and dust, making it hypoallergenic and safe for people with sinusitis, nasal and eye allergies, sleep apnea, etc. Tea tree oil is known for treating blocked airways to promote better respiratory conditions for patients with sleeping disorders.
Verdict:
There is really no better way than to say the Nufabrx pillowcase is probably the laziest guide to better skin ever invented. How else can you get 5 to 10 hours of spa treatment for the skin by technically doing nothing, to say the least? Skincare has truly never been this effortless.
We did ask ourselves what if you are not a side-sleeper and you sleep face-up? Well guess what. The essential oils infusion helps to stimulate the scalp and boost healthy hair growth too. But let’s be real, you wouldn’t be caught dead sleeping face up throughout your sleep. You are bound to toss and turn at some point; except that you wouldn’t be fully conscious to know it.
The Nufabrx pillowcase comes in a handy capsule casing, and for the germaphobes who prefer to sleep in their own pillowcases, the packaging is sleek enough to be packed along for travelling. The fragrance is what the product says it is – a subtle coalescence of the 3 oil aromas. The texture of it feels luxurious and pressed; what we love most about it is that it feels cool to the skin all the time.
We are into 1.5 weeks of using it and while we are unsure to say it is the reason for the red blemishes on my forehead to become clearer, I no longer wake up with oily skin the next morning ever since I have been sleeping on it. We know the right oils can normalize oily skin and oily skin is what clog pores for acne to build up, so it may well be that principle that is causing the red bumps to subside.
The only down side though, only if you think it is, is that the built-in essential oils can only last up to 20 washes (cold machine wash only) before most of the oil capsules are released, leaving you with a soft, fluffy bamboo-fibred pillowcase nonetheless. It is therefore not completely useless; after all sleeping on bamboo fabric is a much hygienic choice compared to cotton, with or without the marrows. After a few washes the scent may gradually fade off but you just need to rub it between your palms to activate the deepened capsules and you will find the aroma resurfacing again.
If we compare spending S$39.90 on this (a lipstick or cleanser of a known brand can easily cost you this much or more) and on another beauty or skincare product, they serve the same purpose of beautifying you (not to mention the health-healing too). Say you wash your pillowcases every 2 weeks (you don’t have to wash it as often as your normal ones because it is already superior, duh), the therapy aspect of it can last you a good 9 to 10 months.
Acne sufferers should ask themselves if they’d like to pack their skin with chemicals or go with natural remedy; especially with one that requires you to just sleep on it while it does all the work. You don’t try, you’ll never know.
