Chanel Éclat Premier La Base Review

Chanel released their Éclat Premier La Base in March 2025, and I’ve experimented with it enough to give a review of it. The Chanel Éclat Premier La Base is the first step to your makeup routine. The product prepares the skin for makeup by providing a hydrated, protective, rosy tinted veil. It is a complexion enhancer, a UV protection, and a radiance booster. Furthermore, this fluid makeup base aims to revive the skin’s natural glow, and even correct dark spots.
Texture & Scent
Chanel stated on their website that the Éclat Premier La Base is a cream formula. However, I feel it is thinner than cream; as well as than serum. Its texture feels and applies more like a lotion. Rich no doubt, it blends and melts into the skin comfortably. I mean, the fact that my beauty advisor suggested shaking it well before use would line up with its consistency being more fluid than cream. The product carries a mild floral scent.
Chanel Éclat Premier La Base Légère
The Chanel Éclat Premier La Base Légère is another option for those who prefer lighter textures. It is of a lighter weight formula, and essentially an oil-in water emulsion. Comparably, the Éclat Premier La Base Légère is with spf 35 PA++++ vs. the La Base with an spf of 40 PA++++. The product descriptions refer to them as “Light Texture” and “Comfortable Texture” respectively. The former promises a rosy, semi-matte translucent finish, while the latter assures a rosy, translucent pearly finish.
Éclat Premier La Base: Correcting Makeup Base with SPF 40 PA++++
Chanel’s Éclat Premier La Base is formulated with Spf 40 PA++++ sun protection. Thus, the makeup base offers the skin targeted protection against both UVA and UVB rays. In addition, it also boasts a certain thermal complex, a blend of skin-comforting ingredients tailored to maintain the skin’s balance against drastic weather shifts. So does this mean that it is an effective primer, corrector and sunscreen rolled in one? Let’s find out.
Éclat Premier La Base Active Ingredients: Pure Niacinamide & Premier Floral Extract
Pure Niacinamide is known for its potency in addressing hyperpigmentation of the skin. Niacinamide helps to slow down the transfer of pigment to skin cells, which can fade the appearance of dark spots, and evens out skin tone over time. The premier flower extract in Chanel’s Éclat Premier La Base is derived from the Ylang-Ylang flower (Cananga odorata). Chanel’s Éclat Premier La Base is essentially made of a concentrated blend of Ylang-Ylang flower’s bioactive compounds. These compounds protect the skin from damage, nourish its barrier, and enhance its natural radiance.

Left: Before, Right: After
In order to attest to the product’s claims of correcting dark spots, awakening skin radiance and whatnot, I feel it is best to prove these on bare skin without any makeup. After all, the Éclat Premier La Base is a makeup base designed as an underbase for other makeup. Therefore, while I know the Éclat Premier La Base doesn’t offer much coverage, I wanted to see for myself what other immediate improvements it can bring.
Complexion & Dark Spots & Correction
I have random redness as my skin gets more sensitive over the years. I also have my fair share of dark and age spots. As seen in the “after” photo, it lightens the dark spots and dark circles by a teeny-weeny bit. Borderline passes, I know. Suffice to say, it does not cancel out my redness.
Brightening & Glow
It brightens my skin a tad, and adds glow to it, for sure, especially on the high points. I was doing a swatch earlier on the back of my palm before I took these photos. I blended it on to my skin over the knuckles. Just look at the way my knuckles shine in the photos.
With its distinctive blend of finely-milled pearlescent pigments and mineral powders, this does not come as a surprise. However, you don’t get to see the rosiness of the finish from just applying it alone here. Nevertheless, the right photo below shows how my makeup turned out a rosy finish with the Chanel Éclat Premier La Base.
Pore & Texture Blurring, Keeping Shine at Bay & Rosiness

The above photos show the usual face makeup I wear – cc cream, face powder, and lastly, concealer. In the right photo, however, I have used the Éclat Premier La Base as the first layer before anything else. Ignore the blush in the right photo, and just focus on the skin and tone. Specifically, pores wise, there is no noticeable difference. Although, I observed that it subtly blurs around small bumps. The pearlescent particles diffusing light on my skin is likely the reason.
What I love about this product is that it lends glow while controlling shine. Chanel promises to deliver a rosy, translucent pearly finish, and this is what I am seeing. I suppose the active ingredient of premier flower extract plays a substantial role in this. Presumably, the polyphenols and fatty acids in the ingredient help to protect, calm and hydrate the skin. As a result, the skin barrier gets better microcirculation.
Price & Where to Buy
The Éclat Premier La Base retails at SGD$116.00 for 30ml on Chanel Singapore online store as well as beauty boutiques.
