Chanel La Mousse vs Dior OFF/ON Foaming Cleanser
Chanel cleanser vs Dior cleanser is literally comparing “La Mousse” with “La Mousse”, as the term described on both face washes. Neither of these face cleansers specifically confine themselves to just being a cream, mousse or foaming cleanser. Nor they made any attempt to distinguish their looks and packaging from each other. Both products even feature the same “anti-pollution” unique selling propositions. Like gurrl…if this isn’t a pitched battle. There needs to be a break down for a showdown.
Chanel La Mousse Cleanser
Chanel La Mousse is an all-round cleanser for all skin types. It is gentle enough even for sensitive skin. The Chanel cleanser emphasises one particular benefit more strongly than the Dior cleanser does, and it is the ability to remove traces of makeup. I can personally attest to this. I like to remove my makeup with cotton pads soaked with micellar water and the last cotton pad always has some residue on it. After cleansing with Chanel La Mousse, I repeat with a micellar water-soaked cotton pad and it swipes spotless.
Chanel Anti-Pollution Cleansing cream to foam formulation
To combat pollution, Chanel uses a unique blend of two marine plant extracts – the blue micro-algae and the Marine salicornia. Blue microalgae (spirulina), is known for its cell-defending properties in slowing photoaging. Marine salicornia (glasswort) is great for moisture retention and strengthening the skin barrier. Both of these skin superfoods target at protecting against oxidative stress caused by harmful free radicals.
The consistency of the Chanel cleanser is rich and creamy. It doesn’t even foam that much as I lather up with water. The texture feels weightier and clingier than the Dior cleanser, and took a longer time to rinse off. It has a light floral scent to it though I was expecting more of an aquatic undertone.
Dior ON/OFF Foaming Cleanser
Dior Anti-pollution foaming cleanser with purifying French water lily
The Dior La Mousse OFF/ON cleanser features the French water lily as its key ingredient. The use of water lily is a fascinating aspect of the anti-pollution idea of this foam cleanser. Water lilies have the purifying ability to absorb heavy metals from their surroundings. So if our skin is the environment, this water lily-infused cleanser is able to trap impurities and prevent them from spreading.
But unlike a quick rinse, it takes weeks if not months for water lilies to fulfil their purification roles in an actual green ecosystem (phytoremediation). Honestly, I think the principle behind the product is compelling, but I’m not sure if the same mechanisms work on the skin.
Dior OFF/ON foaming cleanser has a silkier feel and less viscose. It makes airier foam and therefore gets rinsed off easier. The Dior cleanser leaves a subtle film on the skin after cleansing, and carries a heavenly floral scent which is a bonus.
Chanel Cleanser vs Dior Cleanser: The Showdown
The Chanel cleanser and the Dior cleanser are basically two peas in a pod. They have so much in common I don’t blame you for having trouble deciding between the two. However there has to be a favourite ultimately otherwise this blog post wouldn’t achieve its intended purpose.
Chanel Cleanser vs Dior Cleanser: The Commonalities
They are both a mousse, cream and foam face wash in one. Both cleansers target to purify, cleanse, protect and strengthen the skin. To top these off, they help to rid of pollutants and excess sebum. Both the Chanel and Dior cleansers are also equally non-stripping of the skin’s natural oils and moisture after washing.
Chanel Cleanser vs Dior Cleanser: The Distinctions
While both are effective makeup removers, Chanel La Mousse provides a deeper pore cleansing action. I can feel that my skin gets clarified more when I use the Chanel cleanser. And I’d experienced this even before I realised that the Chanel La Mousse cleanser is non-comedogenic while the Dior cleanser doesn’t explicitly claim so.
The Dior Off/On foaming cleanser does leave you with a second skin wrapped around snugly, but the oil returns to my skin more quickly than it does with the Chanel cleanser. I don’t know about you, but there are many things I can compromise for oil control. Not that the Chanel one dries my skin anyways. You get the idea which one hits the spot for me.
