BH Cosmetics Face Makeup Brushes Set (Sculpt & Blend)

I ‘d been playing around with the BH Cosmetics Sculpt and Blend makeup brushes set for a while now and I think it is time for me to share how I thought of them.

BH Cosmetics Sculpt and Blend Makeup Brushes Review

BH Cosmetics Sculpt & Blend: Best Makeup Brushes for Sigma Dupes?

Let’s start off by saying that they look ALOT like the Sigma F80s series. Don’t bring up close-seconds like Jessup that can only be bought online and you can’t actually feel them. These 5 face brushes from BH Cosmetics come with another 5 smaller face makeup brushes in their “Sculpt and Blend” set of 10, but I’m not going to say much about the smaller brushes otherwise my post may end up becoming like a manual. I’ve featured my pretty pal here, who preferred to be anonymous, and was kind enough to share which are her few favourite pieces (she has the same set) and shed some light on why so.

Price and Where To Buy:

SGD$34.90 for a set of 10 at Watson’s Events (atrium sales) as well as John Little stores. The last I checked – John Little departmental stores are having 20% discount storewide. Bummer for me.

BH Cosmetics Flat Blending Face (Kabuki) Brush Review

BH Cosmetics Flat Top Kabuki Foundation Brush Review

To me, stippling is the way to go with this flat top kabuki brush because it pushes the product into the skin with just the right amount of packed pressure and allows the product to be built in layers. Think of it like sponging paint on walls rather than painting over it. I use it for applying “spot blushes”on the apples of my cheeks – this applicator literally took one dab on each of my cheeks to give that doll-like flushed looks. Over time I find stippling results the longest-wearing of makeup. Let’s hear my friend’s side of the story:

BH Cosmetics Kabuki Makeup Brush Review

“Sure we love the Beauty Blender, however this BH Flat Brush is just as FLAT-bulous! With feathery-light stippling strokes, my liquid foundation and contour cake achieves an air-brushed effect. Since the liquid or cream product gets pushed onto our face, every fibre of the brush is bundled and takes little effort to blend. You may also swirl the product around your face. I love how this blending buffs into a satin perfection. Stippling also allows building up of my contouring cake to give it a gradual blending, the intensity is well controlled for ladies who are less savvy with finger application.”

Less savvy with fingers, ha! Guilty as charged.

Not sure what “swirling” and “stippling” are all about? I hope the following BH Cosmetics Face Makeup Brushes Set Tutorial video will make some sense of it. Watch it to see how dense and soft they feel at the same time.

BH Cosmetics Round Blending Face Brush Review

This one is exactly the same as the flat top kabuki brush except that its top is rounded.  Not only do the bristles pick up powdered pigments really well as you can see from the video, they release them and blend uniformly with powdered foundations too.

BH Cosmetics Tapered Contouring Face Makeup Brush Review

This is what alot of ladies refer to as the “dome-shaped”brush. Here’s my pal echoing my exact thoughts:

“For powder blending on eye socket or under-eyes, hold the brush straight or slightly angled, and gently glide the bristle outwardly. It sets in quick without crashing too much of the powder in, that could worsen the fine lines. Another of my favourite application, using the pointy tip of the brush, sweep the highlighting powder down the nose bridge. As the bristle converges at the tip, this application produces a more focused highlight. “

The Tapered Contouring Face brush as seen in the video is also great for setting highlights on the cheek bones apart from setting powder over concealer on the under eye areas. It is also very simple to use for light contouring.

BH Cosmetics Angled Contouring Face Brush Review

As evident in the video, you could tell how soft each of the brushes in this set was. This is the only brush I have a slight problem with; as a contour brush it needs to have bristles dense and firm enough for buffing out harsh lines. It is dense but it is not firm enough. You could tell how much arm muscles I need to work with to really blur out those contour lines. Maybe if the brush hairs were shorter, this may give that extra strength in them to do the trick.

This is my favourite brush in the set, and is commonly known as the “blush brush.”Perhaps because of its rounded angle size it fits into my cheek hollows perfectly. Blush-swiping has never been that easy and fast. I wouldn’t call it fluffy because it is not. But the way it brushes pigment on the skin needs not much touch up or blending to correct the focus. This is a must-have for all blush makeup users.

Small Tapered Contouring Face Brush #118

Now here’s a mini review from my friend on one of the smaller brushes that comes in the Sculpt and Blend Set:

BH Cosmetics - small contouring face brush review singapore

“The Small Tapered Contouring Face Brush is hands-down a perfect brush for eye shadow base. I also used it to line under eyeliner to fashion the latest Korean aegyo sal makeup.  The soft subtle effect was exactly what I needed for a more natural look. Also entranced by the fad of plumper lips, I figured out the Small Tapered Contouring Face Brush held an impeccable edge to sketch along the lip perimeter, with a cream or white eye shadow. The soft yet firm edges got under the lip silhouettes effortlessly.”

See how creative you can get with these brushes? Aegyo sal and lip definer among other things! We hope you enjoy reading this review.
