I know, I know. This one is a real oldie. But hey, like how everybody says, it’s an oldie but a goodie. Bought this eons ago but only started using it a month back.
The Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque may be marketed as the hair mask for dry and damaged hair but, really, it works on every hair type; it performs even for oilier scalps like mine.
Best Hair Mask: Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque
This is one of the products heavily sponsored on youtube and mentioned by youtubers about a couple of years back that I don’t actually quite cringe at the thought of them now. I’d tried their Macadamia Natural Oil Rejuvenating Shampoo sometime back and was very pleased with the experience, so that gave me a further boost of confidence in their products.
Consistency
Velvety smooth like most hair masks, except that you can feel your hair softens instantaneously even before rinsing it off.
Fragrance
This hair mask smells a little different from its shampoo. The latter carries a jasmine scent while this one has got a peachy-fruity note to it. Weird I know, after all the essential oils used in this product are mostly nut based. It has perfume in it so this might be the reason.
How To Use the Macadamia Natural Oil Hair Masque
Scoop out about a third of your palm size of the amount and lather thoroughly through the hair strands, concentrating on the tips, and avoiding contact with your scalp. Get going with the rest of your body and face cleansing routine while leaving the hair mask to work. The instructions states to leave in your hair for 7 minutes, but rush hour experiences tell me that even 3 minutes leave-in time is sufficient for the result to show a difference. It is recommended to use it twice a week.
Key Ingredients: How it works
Macadamia Oil, Argan Oil, Castor Seed Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Extract
The combination of these ingredients gives oxidative stability to the hair due to their anti-aging properties. They are natural moisturizers that hydrate the hair essentially with vitamin E, at the same time nourish the hair follicles and stimulate hair growth. They are naturally occuring proteins that contain essential fatty acids such as amino acid which help to thicken and strengthen hair strands.
Price and Where To Buy
The Macadamia Natural Oil range of products including this deep repair masque retail at John Little, Sasa Cosmetics outlets as well Mustafa Shopping Centre. Mustafa now carries their new packaging; I’m not sure if the others updated their stock too. I bought mine at Mustafa at SGD$33.00 (250ml) which is again, I need to emphasize that they are selling substantially lower than the other retailers.
Verdict:
My jaw gaped when I read a handful of reviewers complaining about how this product makes their hair dry. I’m guessing they could be spies sent from competitors to badmouth the company. You don’t have to have dry and damaged hair to use this and say it is good stuff, but if you say that your hair is dry after using it…girl you must have bodily straw or hay to begin with.
I use this hair mask more than the recommended 2 times a week; depending on how long I’d left it to work in my hair before rinsing, I’d say about 3 to 4 times a week on alternate days. If you do have the time to actually leave it in for 7 to 8 minutes, then perhaps you don’t need to do this as frequently.
My style is usually quick leave-ins then thorough rinsing. I know then you’d question on the effect of the mask, but like I said, the ‘softening’ of the hair is almost immediate, plus I don’t have very thick hair to be concerned with the rate of the mask’s ‘absorption’. The skin around my neck and nape suffers from eczema from time to time, so I try not to allow products to stay on the skin for too long.
The shine and bounce is more apparent when you let your hair dry naturally as opposed to blow-drying them. Your hair texture? Silky smooth. The smell…omg…lingers in your hair like for 2 whole days and I love sniffing my own hair since.
All in all, a very reliable hair masque for a good hair day. It lives up to its hype in every way.
