How To Get Glowy Skin: Dior Prestige Light in White Blemish Balm Review

If it takes technology on how to get glowy skin, the Dior Prestige Light-in-White has it. This luxury skin brightening line has a blemish balm that works like a colour correcting serum in masking blemishes such as light age spots, pigmentation, redness, enlarged pores, and generally evening out skin tones, leaving a glowy, dewy finish.

Getting glowy skin out of this product isn’t just attributed to Dior Prestige Light-in-White’s light-adapting technology, but also the mineral aspect of it. This Dior Prestige Light-in-White The UV Mineral Protector boasts a 100% mineral filter formula that caters for even fragile skin, and by that I’m assuming delicate skin that is sensitive-prone, and thinner skins in mature persons, for instance.

The Dior Prestige Light in White UV Mineral Protector Blemish Balm provides high protection against UVA-UVB rays both of which are responsible for skin damages and photo-aging. UV rays could come from sunlight as well as artificial lighting. Besides the ultraviolet rays radiation, this product also creates a protective veil against pollution such as fine particles like smoke and dirt.

Texture, Shade & Scent

The texture does not feel like a balm. It runs much thinner than any salve, cream or even lotion. It is almost aqueous; and applies more like fluid, even though this consistency does not compromise on the high pigment in the formula. This smells heavenly because of the white rose the product encapsulates – an uplifting floral note which is airy, and of the right intensity. In my demo video below, you can see clearly how free-flowingly this ‘balm’ trickles down on the back of my hand, and if you’d like to see how it blends out and its coverage performance, do watch it. Before and After photos, as well as side-by-side close-ups in there are all raw and unfiltered. No concealer was used throughout the video. Be warned that my bare face (especially with my horrendous puffy eye bags and dark circles) will be pretty scary though.

Tinted Mineral Sunscreen for Face: Dior Prestige Light in White UV Mineral Protector Blemish Balm verdict

A potent tinted mineral sunscreen for the face – that’s what the Dior Prestige Light in White UV Mineral Protector Blemish Balm basically is; with a glowing, dewy, soft and diffused skin luminosity. I’m not sure what the deal with mineral makeup is, since the benefits of mineral pigments have been debatable, and they’re largely to be blamed for causing skin to appear ashy, especially around the under eye areas where the darker toned circles are. There is a whole bunch of other constituents in this product but one might wonder why the emphasis on the mineral formula in Dior’s marketing (do not confuse with Dior Prestige Light-in-White The UV Protector Youth and Light Sheer Glow)? I’ve gone through the list of its ingredients particularly the minerals and titanium dioxide is 3rd on the list, with iron oxide trailing at 7th. Titanium dioxide is known for giving off a white cast on the skin, but both are also reputable for their impenetrabilities thus highly effective in sun-blocking. Because of the mineral composition, this product should also be naturally binding to our natural skin oils, enabling the makeup to hold up longer.

And it does, with the exception for my under eye dark circles from which some of the coverage slid off a bit. If you’ve watched my video above, I’ve simulated hours spent outside with an hour of home workout in between when I first applied this Dior Prestige Light in White UV Mineral Protector Blemish Balm and after my workout (Singapore is under semi-lockdown at the time of this post). It could be because my puffy eye bags are so severe, the product has difficulty adhering to the skin folds, creases and all. However surprisingly, the perspiration and the sebum I’d produced have been blotted out quite well, with the base albeit sheer coverage and the glow factor intact.

I had to do 3 quick pumps of the product in order to get the sheer to medium coverage that I want. 1-2 pumps would not cut it if you have similar blemishes like mine – redness, enlarged pores, bumps, pigmentation, discolouration and age spots. Deeper scar tissues like those on the right side of my face as well as my under eye dark circles are impossible to conceal but I’m not expecting it to. The winning point of this tinted mineral makeup is, despite having a high sun protection factor and mineral composition, the product does not oxidise. I’ve worn it for over 6 hours, and while my sebum kind of pervades over time, and the dark circles coverage isn’t great, the skin tone did not change much, and I didn’t find it ashes my under eye areas out either.
