I’m bringing you the Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Facial Mask review today. I have been using it for a few months now, though not regularly but enough to see some temporal difference to the skin each time of using it.
A Kiehl’s Brightening Facial Mask Review
From the name itself you should have guessed the key ingredients that made up the drive for this skin brightening mask. This product didn’t arrive on the shelves till earlier this year (2016); it was rolled out together with Kiehl’s other new face mask – The Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Mask, which is a leave-in overnight mask, but I didn’t get that one.
So this energizing radiance mask, as the name suggests, aims to boost your skin’s radiance and evens out skin tone at the same time.
Sensation
The turmeric makes it a little warm on the skin about 3 minutes into application. It is not the kind of warmth derived from heat, but more like those coming from beneath the skin; just like how your body would feel a little warm from the inside after a ginger drink.
Scent/ Color/ Texture
It is this butter-yellow paste with bits of crushed cranberry seeds in iy. You do get that slight whiff of gingery scent, but then you’d still smell something ‘earthy’ or ‘clay-ish’ for the most of it. It feels wetter than the other Kiehl’s clay mask I own – the Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Masque which I’d used in my cystic hormonal acne treatment previously, it feels more like the Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque where it concerns the ‘wetness’ they both have in common.

Kiehl’s Turmeric Exfoliating Face Mask – How To Use
I was told to smear a thin layer over the face and to leave it for 5 to 10 minutes, before slightly wetting your masked skin and gently massage it with the cranberry seed bits, and then rinsing it completely off. My personal liking though, is going a little further than just a thin layer, and leaving it for up to 10 to 15 minutes before doing that same exfoliating ritual. The weather in Singapore is humid to say the least, I don’t know about you, but 5 to 10 minutes isn’t all that good enough to dry that layer up for it to take any effect.
Verdict:
I know the photos don’t prove much. But I think if you look at my skin closely, it gives more red to the skin and takes out some of the yellow undertones, agree? What I couldn’t explain here in words is that it smoothens out the skin’s texture so much. The little bumps, and I mean the real tiny ones like those you can’t see and can only feel, are gone. It may not have contracted the size of my pores but it sure does some good when it comes to layering on makeup, especially the foundation part.
On another note, frankly I don’t see that it ‘brightens’ my skin tone along the line of glowy skin, but it sure does put some pink healthy undertone in neutralizing my yellows.
